This is my first business and I’m just trying to learn everything as I go. It can be a slow process. When you have to put you’re full-time job and family first before you’re side business you kinda just have to learn things however you can. Everything here is a learning process for me, and its going to be for quite awhile. Honestly the good ones are never going to stop learning. There are a number of outlets I get some of my research from. Things on what might be the best way to build my brand, certain ways and techniques to wash different structures, the right chemicals to use, why coffee is awesome, etc.
More and more though, I’m seeing videos of “How to easily make $30,000 a month with your business”, “Guaranteed success with your business”, “How to literally be a billionaire by the end of this video”. It’s a little much. Obviously most can be ignored as its just click-bait titles to draw people in. When you watch the video its some dude saying all you have to do is believe in yourself and you will succeed. Right.
The thing is though, there is some good stuff buried in that nonsense. Actually a lot of good stuff. I’ve watched a number of videos that are related to my work because I always want to try to learn more and improve myself (and yea some of them use titles like that), but honestly its the name of the game if you’re playing the YouTube algorithm. I don’t know what its like for others, but I’ve found some solid information in videos of people talking about pressure washing and honestly its something I also plan on doing.
And why wouldn’t you?
That’s another possible revenue for your business, its getting more eyes on your brand, and maybe its going to help people. And it doesn’t have help people in a “direct way”. There are videos out there of guys doing yard maintenance that garner millions of views. Millions. That’s insane. Many people just find that kind of stuff relaxing. Now creating these kinds of videos, but applying it to pressure washing is nothing new. There are a number of channels out there that do that; and they’re awesome. These guys are doing great work. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone go through the journey of starting at square one and working to the top though. That’s what I’d like to try and create. The whole process of what its been like starting a business with no prior business experience to hopefully being one of the top players. The link to my channel is on the site. It also may have already been done, because just about everything already has been, but I still think its something very worthwhile. More on this in the future. Just going through these videos got me thinking about how I wanted to get started in this section as well.
